Who is the Florida Adventurer?

The Florida Adventurer is the project of Casey Kochey, a graduate student at the University of Florida.  I’m passionate about journalism, history, archaeology and all things outdoors.

Home base right now is Gainesville, Fla. but I frequently leave the area (and the state and, occasionally, the country) in pursuit of new adventures.  I usually travel with my wife, Ali, and my carsick collie, Oliver.

I love kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, biking, tent camping and caving, and I love talking to other people with similar interests.  Mainly, I use a Hobie sit-on and a Sea Eagle inflatable kayaks, but I’m in the market for another one.

It’s my goal to share these adventures with you and to provide a resource to weekend adventurers in the north Florida area.

I’m excited you’ve found my site.  If you haven’t already, follow along via email (enter your address in the box to the right) or follow me on Twitter.  Also, let me know about your site – I’m always looking for like-minded blogs!

And then I’m going to defy all my loved ones and do all sorts of “dangerous” things (hike, bike, yak) by myself.
Oh, and from one Floridian to another, happy hiking season!
